RESNET
ResNet offers a high-speed Ethernet connection to each resident in the residence halls. To connect, you'll need a computer that supports Ethernet and an RJ45 Ethernet cable.
The University provides wireless network access in the libraries, large residence hall study lounges, campus dining facilities, the athletic facilities, and many departments and classrooms. All traffic on BU's wireless network is secured and encrypted as described on the page about our wireless network. Wireless access is not available in individual rooms; personal wireless access points interfere with network traffic and are therefore prohibited in the residences.
During fall move-in, the PCSC runs a ResNet Operations Center (ROC), staffed with a small army of technicians. Full-time and student staff provide specialized technical support to students as they return to the residence halls each fall, offering telephone and drop-in support, as well as on-site visits to students’ rooms. Our goal is to get everyone connected to ResNet as quickly as possible.
Your responsibility for securing your Computer in resnet
You are required to install effective anti-virus and anti-spyware packages in order to connect to the Boston University Campus Network. |

|
THREE STEPS TO FOLLOW: We maintain a special site, dedicated to securing PCs, at www.bu.edu/pcsc/safe. There you can:
Apple Macintosh computer users should also visit the Apple Product Security site for recommendations. PROTECT YOUR IDENTITY: The same site also provides important recommendations to help you protect your identity. |
