Configuring A dial-up (modem) connection IN
Windows vista
- Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Connect to a network.
- Click on Set up a connection or network.
- Select Set up a dialup connection and click Next.
- Enter the appropriate information for the ISP you are dialing in to. If BU is your ISP, the basic number is 617 378-1111. However, you'll want to make sure to use the Dialing Rules to help you get the number set up correctly (formatted as if you were making a regular phone call to 617.) For example, if you have call waiting, the number to dial might look like this: *70 1 617 378 1111 or if you have to dial 9 first, it might look like this: 9, 1 617 378 1111. If you use a calling card, you'll also want to enter that information and the Dialing Rules window will help you do that.
- You should also enter your BU login name as the User name and Kerberos password as the Password.
- You should probably also give the Dial-up Connection a more specific name such as "BU dial-up" (in case there might be others). Then, click on Connect to make sure it works.

- Once the connection is successful, you will have an opportunity to save it for future use, which you should do.
- Next time you want to connect you then go to Start -> Settings -> Network Connections and launch the dial-up connection.
