INFORMATION FOR HANDHELD DEVICE USERS
Please note that help with handheld devices is not officially provided by the PCSC. The information given below is for your convenience.
WIRELESS ACCESS
Many handheld devices come bundled with an Internet service, making use of the BU network unnecessary. Because the Boston University wireless network requires use of VPN software, handheld users are often better off using the handheld's bundled service, and some (such as iPhone users) will have to. For those who do hope to use the BU wireless network, there will hopefully be an appropriate VPN client listed on the related page at www.bu.edu/pcsc/vpn/handheldVPN.html.
USING E-MAIL
Regardless of your method of Internet access, you should be able to access your BU e-mail using one of the following methods:
- Configure the handheld's mail client to read BU e-mail using the settings described at www.bu.edu/pcsc/email/configure/. iPhone or iPod Touch users should follow the specific instructions outlined at www.bu.edu/pcsc/email/configure/iphone/.
- Use the handheld's Web browser to access BU e-mail at www.bu.edu/webmail.
- Forward BU e-mail to an e-mail address that will work on your handheld. You can set up forwarding as described at www.bu.edu/pcsc/email/configure/forwarding/.
