Gift Designations

Gifts to the Parents Annual Campaign may be designated to the following areas:

Area of Greatest Need

Gifts to this area support the general operation and needs of Boston University. Everyday, monies are taken from this fund to support important initiatives and projects and emergency needs.

Athletics

Boston University is committed to providing its student-athletes with the best academic and athletic experiences by raising funds for scholarships and athletic and recreational facilities and by encouraging volunteer and fan involvement. Your support of Terrier Athletics will enable our young men and women to compete at the highest level. In turn, the achievements of our teams instill prides, and they bring recognition to Boston University.

Libraries

Mugar Memorial Library, the central research and study library on campus, and the other campus libraries, provide a rich array of resources in print, electronic, and microform format for the university's students. The explosion in electronic scholarly resources over the past ten years, along with continued growth in publishing of books and journals places continued challenges in developing the libraries' collections. Gifts to the libraries help assure the acquisition of new electronic resources, of new scholarly materials in traditional formats, and the development of programs and facilities to support undergraduates' research efforts in the libraries.

Scholarship

Gifts to scholarship provide Boston University's undergraduates with increasingly necessary financial assistance throughout their tenure at the University. Last year, $42 million was awarded to nearly 2,100 students in the class of 2008, of which $16 million was merit-based.
Unfortunately, the University is unable to offer aid to all admitted students who have calculated need or to fully fund the need of all students offered aid. Gifts to this area will help ensure that the best and brightest are given the opportunity to attend Boston University.
