BU Jewish Studies Research Forum: Thomas Meyer

Hannah Arendt and Leo Strauss offered radically different responses to the Holocaust. In his talk, Dr. Thomas Meyer will probe the "war of ideas" between Arendt and Strauss by juxtaposing Arenndt's concept of the "human condition" and Strauss' "classical political philosophy."

About the Speaker: Thomas Meyer holds a doctorate in Philosophy from LMU, Munich. He has taught and held fellowships at the University of Graz, ETH Zurich, the University of Chicago, Vanderbilt University and Boston University. His most recent publications include an edition of Alexander Altmann's Schriften 1927-1939 and Hannah Arendt's Politik und Feiheit.
