PEP TRAINING - The Special Education Process (IEP’s and other handy dandy information)

This workshop will de-mystify the IEP process; explaining what, who, why, when, where, and how Special Education is delivered in terms you will understand. You will recognize IEP forms, notices and supplementary documents used by schools and understand how to interpret them. You will apply your skills and new knowledge in a case study to practice your understanding. We will address discipline, absenteeism, and bullying in the school setting. Parent’s and student’s rights and responsibilities will covered as well as who has authority to sign which forms and make decisions for the student. Accessing student records, translation and interpretation services will be discussed. You will leave with a working knowledge of educational advocacy and references and sources for further information.
