Description: In 1994, artist Jen Bradley began routinely drawing at the gorilla habitat at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. Since then she has continued to record her experiences and observations through the process of drawing and video. She refers to this ongoing series and practice as The Ape Drawing Project. She received a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art. Bradley was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and growing up spent many summers in Alsace, France. Bradley was the Artist-in-Residence at Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo, where she began her ongoing “Ape Drawing Project” in 1994. Recent work contains references to mythical geographies, interiors, references to the natural world, and imagery from manufactured spaces like those found in contemporary video games. Bradley splits her time between Boston and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
