Shapiro Lecture featuring Peter McCausland ('74) and Daniel Neff

  • Starts: 12:45 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017
  • Ends: 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017
Bidders and Targets, Directors, Shareholder and Advisors in Takeover Battles: When Does Zealous Advocacy Cross the Line? Airgas, the industrial gas company that Peter McCausland founded in 1982, faced a hostile takeover bid in 2010 from Air Products. The two Pennsylvania companies eventually went to court, where Mr. McCausland triumphed in his bid to retain control of Airgas. In 2016, he sold Airgas to Paris-based L’Air Liquide for double the amount that Air Products had offered six years earlier. Mr. McCausland will review the storyline of Airgas’ hostile takeover bid from Air Products and Daniel A. Neff will outline the legal framework that was used to win their case. All professors, law students, graduate students, undergraduates, alumni and the general public are welcome to attend the lecture.
