Terriers @ Work: ESPN

Don't miss BU alumnus Anthony DeVita (COM'03) as he tweets about his job as a Live Event Producer for ESPN on @TerriersAtWork.

Anthony was hired by ESPN in September of 2003 and has been with the company for almost 12 years. He began in Event Production at ESPN as a Temp Production Assistant. In order to stay on with the company, he had a 6 month trial period in which he would be evaluated and either kept or hired full time. He made it through that and since then has worked his way up through the multiple levels of Production Assistant, then Associate Producer. Through his years as a Production Assistant and Associate Producer, his main responsibility was graphics; researching and executing the information that you see on the screen during a game. He has produced graphics for many events over the years, including Monday Night Football, Wimbledon, College Basketball, College Football, College World Series, Women's Final Four, and The Ryder Cup. Anthony was promoted to the title of Producer in the Summer of 2014. As a Producer in Event Production, he oversees and executes all creative content for ESPN's live events. Graphics, replays, and all editorial decisions and how and when they are executed ultimately fall on his shoulders. One of the biggest parts of a Producer is to ensure that the announcers are aware of what's coming from the truck and when to ensure they are in synch and aware of what content the audience is about it see. Taking all those elements and weaving them seamlessly and smartly into a show is the biggest challenge and goal of a Live Event Sports Producer. One of his first assignments after being promoted to Producer was taking the reigns of the 2015 Frozen Four broadcast.
