"The Gatekeepers." A Jewish Studies Movie Night

  • Starts: 6:00 pm on Monday, October 6, 2014
A screening and discussion of "The Gatekeepers," Dror Moreh's 2012 documentary on Israel's security establishment, the Shin Bet, is based on a series of interviews with five former heads of Israel's Secret Service who reflect on their successes and failures to maintain security, even while violence flares up again, this time in the Gaza Strip. These five men individually and as a group have come to reconsider their hard-line positions and advocate a conciliatory approach toward their enemies based on a two-state solution. We are showing this documentary in anticipation of the campus visit of Amichai Ayalon, one of the "gatekeepers," on October 28. Kosher pizza and discussion to follow the screening.
