The Future of Europe: A Lecture by Bruno Maçães, Secretary of State for Euroepan Affairs, Portugal

  • Starts: 4:15 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2014
  • Ends: 5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2014
Please join us for a lecture and conversation with Bruno Maçães, State Secretary for European Affairs in the Portuguese government. Maçães will offer a Portuguese perspective on Europe's future. The event will be moderated by Alan Berger, Retired editorial writer for international affairs, Boston Globe. A reception precedes the event, from 3:30 to 4:15 PM. The “EU Inside Out” series is funded in part by a grant from the European Commission Delegation in Washington DC. The series addresses, broadly, the theme of democratic politics under conditions of globalization from an “inside” point of view. Centering the conversations around global challenges, which by their nature do not yield to nation state solutions (whether economic crisis, transnational terrorism, or global warming), highlights the value of the European Union as a model for transnational cooperation, regional integration, and cultural coexistence. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Finance, Law & Policy and the Undergraduate Economics Association at Boston University, BU Europe, Boston University's European Club, and the Consulate of Portugal in Boston.
