Divest MA from Fossil Fuels Rally

  • Starts: 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 25, 2014
  • Ends: 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2014
Time is running out for climate action. Massachusetts is on the verge of becoming the first state to divest from fossil fuels with bill S.1225, but our state legislators need to get their priorities straight. Rep. Aaron Michlewitz needs to move the bill out of the Public Service Committee, with a favorable report, before March 20th so it can come up for a vote. If not, the next chance we'll have will be in about 2 years. And we all know that we cannot wait--not as CO2 levels rise and our federal government remains blocked on any meaningful climate legislation--Massachusetts must lead now! So let's bring some student power out next week for one more big rally for state divestment before the March 20thdeadline. We can show that students in Mass don't want public dollars supporting fossil fuel companies that are destroying our future. Don't forget to bring signs and banners proclaiming your group's support of Mass divestment! The group from BU (Students for a Just and Stable Future) will be leaving from Marsh Plaza at 9:45.
