Film Screening: "Assignment China"

Former CNN Beijing Bureau Chief and Senior Asia Correspondent Mike Chinoy will screen two films he produced that explore the role, responsibilities and challenges facing journalists covering China. Screening includes two episodes of multi-part documentary film series "Assignment China." From 12:30-2 p.m. "Opening Up" which recounts the experiences of first-generation reporters allowed to be based in Beijing after the normalization of Sino-American relations. From 2-3 p.m. will be "The Week That Changed the World," which is a behind-the-scenes story of journalists who went to China with President Nixon. Chinoy and Professor Anne Donohue, who reported from China in spring and summer 2008 (including Beijing Olympics) will be available after each film for Q&A. Event co-sponsors include the Department of Journalism and the BU Center for the Study of Asia.
