Waiting Eight Years for a Drink: the Bizarre Notion that a 13-year old is a Jewish Adult

From a driver’s license, to voting, to serving in the army, to drinking, to (usually?) sex, what significant milestone in our lives doesn’t happen later than bar or bat mitzvah? What’s wrong with Judaism that it has the same age-threshold as Facebook? In this interactive study and discussion we’ll take a close look at the idea of growing up in Judaism, drawing from classical Jewish sources. Translations will be provided for any Hebrew texts studied.
