Montage Double Feature

Join the BU Film Society as we screen our Montage Double Feature of two films that use a non-narrative montage style to explore our world: Man with a Movie Camera & Baraka. Soviet Film professor, Ivan Eubanks, will introduce the films and hold a Q&A based on his research. 4/10 - 7:00pm - CAS 522 – First, Dziga Vertov's influential film Man with a Movie Camera (1929) presents urban life in Odessa and other Soviet cities. From dawn to dusk Soviet citizens are shown at work and at play, and interacting with the machinery of modern life. 4/10 - 8:30pm - CAS 522 – The Double Feature concludes with the 1992 film, Baraka, which explores themes via a kaleidoscopic compilation of natural events, life, human activities and technological phenomena shot in 24 countries on six continents over a 14-month period. It was shot on 70mm using slow motion and time-lapse. The event counts as a CINEMATHEQUE ALTERNATIVE.
