Tales of the God I’ve Heard of…But Not Quite Seen

Rabbi Joel Alter will share Jewish texts that paint a picture of God more outrageous – but compelling? - than the god we think we’re supposed to believe in. He’ll gather texts from the Torah, ancient Midrash, and modern Hebrew poetry (translated). Rabbi Alter’s teaching will invite open discussion about: if, and how, the god on the page shows up in the world in which we live; the scandal of a god who seems curiously human; God’s stormy but loving personality; living with this God in the world.
