Mozart: An Introduction to the Music, the Man, and the Myths - EnCore Boston Book Group Gathering

  • Starts: 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012
Mozart: An Introduction to the Music, the Man, and the Myths by Roye Wates Mozart: An Introduction to the Music, the Man, and the Myths explores in detail 20 of the composer's major works in the context of his tragically brief life and the turbulent times in which he lived. Author Roye E. Wates, Professor of Music at Boston University from 2002-2004, provides a unique combination of biographical detail, up-to-date research, detailed musical analyses, and clear definitions of terms. Amateurs as well as more advanced musicians will gain a greater understanding of Mozart's encyclopedic mastery. Join fellow alumni and friends for lively and enlightening discussion. For more information, email corealum@bu.edu. The book group was conceived by Core Curriculum alumni of the College of Arts & Sciences as a way to help re-establish our connections with fellow Core alums, Core faculty, and our connection to the great works of literature and art we encountered during our days at BU. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month - but don't worry about finishing the book, come along for discussion and tasty refreshments. While hosted by the EnCore alumni group, all alumni regardless of college or academic program are encouraged to attend.
