The Pardee School of Global Studies offers its students many resources to attain proficiency in a foreign language. Students are required to demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language before graduating from their program. Boston University proudly offers many language choices and programs.

Instruction in the following languages is available to Boston University students through our various language programs:

Through the African Studies Center: Amharic, Hausa, Igbo, Kinyarwanda, Pular, Swahili, Twi, Wolof, Xhosa, Zulu

Through the Department of Classical Studies: Ancient Greek, Latin, Modern Greek

Through the Department of World Languages and Literatures: Arabic, Chinese, German, Hebrew, Hindi–Urdu, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Russian, Turkish

Through the Department of Romance Studies: French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese
