Schmidt Interviewed on Rhodes Center Podcast

Vivien Schmidt, Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration and Professor of International Relations and Political Science at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, discussed her latest book – Europe’s Crisis of Legitimacy: Governing by Rules and Ruling by Numbers in the Eurozone – on an episode of the Rhodes Center Podcast

During the podcast, host Mark Blyth, Professor of Political Science and International and Public Affairs at Brown University, asked Schmidt about Europe’s legitimacy problem within its own membership, how this issue effects Europe’s place on the global stage, and what the future holds for the region. In discussing the content of her book, Schmidt argued that the issues of governing legitimacy revealed during the Eurozone crisis may rear their head again during the current COVID-19 crisis.
