Najam Speaks at 2019 Science Diplomacy Workshop

Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, spoke at a global policy panel on science diplomacy at the 2019 Boston Science Diplomacy Dissertation Enhancement Workshop held from October 10-11, 2019.

The Pardee School was one of the organizers of the event with the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, the McCormack School of Policy at UMass Boston, and MIT. This was the first year that the Pardee School joined the consortium and the workshop attracted doctoral students from various Boston area universities, including Boston University.

Najam participated in the “Dean’s Panel” on global policy and science diplomacy that included David Cash, Dean of the UMass Boston McCormack School, and Rachel Kyte, the new incoming Dean of the Fletcher School. The panel was moderated by Beth Clevenger from MIT Press.

In his remarks Najam highlighted the importance of three of the distinguishing features embedded in the Pardee School strategic plan including the importance of deep interdisciplinarity, the value of thinking long-term, and the centrality of being global while also emphasizing deep area knowledge.
