Policy Leaders Forum: Amb. Ali Jehangir Siddiqui

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University hosted Amb. Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, on November 29, 2018 for a discussion on a range of topics including the current state and future of relations between the U.S. and Pakistan. 

The event was part of the Policy Leaders Forum series at the Pardee School that brings senior international policymakers to Boston University for important policy conversations with guests including faculty, students and experts from across Boston University. 

The conversation covered a wide range of topics including U.S.-Pakistan relations, achieving peace in Afghanistan, Pakistan-China relations including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Belt and Road Initiative, and Pakistan’s ongoing water crisis.

Amb. Siddiqui, who previously served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan with the status of Minister of State, founded JS Bank and also established and served as Chairman of JS Private Equity Management (JSPE Management), one of the larger domestic private equity asset management firms. He was also an Executive Director of JS Investments, a mutual fund management firm regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

Amb. Siddiqui also has extensive experience as a philanthropist, previously serving as honorary CEO of the Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation (MJSF), a non-profit organization working in the education, healthcare and social enterprise sectors. MJSF directly provides emergency relief in humanitarian crises and implements projects in disaster zones in partnership with UN agencies. 

The Policy Leaders @BUPardeeSchool series brings senior international policymakers to Boston University for conversations with faculty, students and guests. Previous speakers in the series have included Senator Daniel Coats, the United States Director for National Intelligence; Dr. Rukakana Rugunda, Prime Minister of Uganda; Steve Beshear, the former Governor of Kentucky; Dr. Woo Yoon-keun, Secretary General on the National Assembly of South Korea; and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).
