Global Economic Governance

Principal Investigator: Prof. Kevin Gallagher

The initiative conducts research on the impact of trade and integration policy on the economic, social, environmental, and political aspects of longer-run development.

Initially, we will engage in the following activities:

The Future of the World Trading System: This consists of a series of research and outreach efforts that examine the extent to which current and proposed trade rules enhance the ability of developing country governments to deploy effective policies for longer-range development.

China and the Prospects of Latin American Economic Development: This work examines the extent to which Latin American nations are losing competitiveness to China and what this means about Latin America’s choice of development strategies and global economic governance for the 21st Century.
