China’s Global Reach: Finance and Investment

Since 2000 China has provided more finance to Latin American governments than the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.  China has also begun to become a major player in terms of foreign direct investment.  Finally, China is making inroads in the region’s equity markets and is putting in place numerous currency swaps.  This project attempts to quantify, track, and analyze these interactions to provide more transparency about China’s financial interactions with Latin America in comparative perspective.
