Upcoming: “Air Quality Data to Action: Case Studies and Strategies from New York City and C40 Cities”

Air pollution is a global problem that harms the lives of millions of people. The Initiative on Cities, the Department of Environmental Health, and the Pardee Center welcome to campus Iyad Kheirbek, Head of Air Quality for C40 Cities, where he will discuss urban air quality initiatives in two settings: New York City and C40 Cities, a network of the world’s mega cities committed to addressing climate change and creating healthier cities.

Iyad will describe actions taken by the City of New York to collect and analyze data to support policy efforts to meet the ambitious goals outlined in the City’s first sustainability plan, PlaNYC (2007) and 2015’s OneNYC. Iyad will also discuss a new air quality program being undertaken at C40 Cities to support cities globally in addressing their air quality challenges while taking aggressive climate action.

Before joining C40 Cities, Iyad served as executive director of New York City’s Department of Health & Mental Hygiene’s Air Quality Program.
