Introduction

The long term goals are to provide an environment to conduct research on fundamental ultrasound wave propagation and scattering, both linear and nonlinear, and multiple mode (acousto-optic/opto-acoustic) wave interactions, array processing, inversion algorithms and imaging modalities. Another key long-term objective is to provide students with hands-on experiences with imaging equipment and firsthand knowledge of physical principles in action.

Projects

MedBED Ultrasound Test Facility (UTF) designed to support many key CenSSIS experimental studies.
Harmonic Imaging Understand the role of nonlinear effects in imaging inside the body.
Acousto-Photonic Imaging  
Elastic Modulus Imaging Use ultrasound data to create images that depict quantitatively the elastic modulus distribution in soft tissue.
Intrasvascular Ultrasound Imaging Use novel wave based processing to classify intravascular plaque.
