Description

Targeted audience, number of participants and implementation

Preceptors from adult and family medicine are encouraged to participate. The number of preceptors and method of implementation will vary by site. The training topics and objectives will be consistent at all sites.

Program Goals

1. Train preceptors in current tobacco treatment and cessation techniques
2. Provide preceptors with methods for educating and supervising medical students on tobacco education and counseling with patients in the clinic setting
3. Provide information on setting up an office system to reinforce smoker identification and tobacco treatment efforts
