Online Tobacco Cessation Training

Basic Skills for Working with Smokers: An Online Training Course for Students in the Health Professions

This purpose of this course is to prepare participants to educate patients and clients about the health risks of tobacco use, to motivate patients and clients to seek treatment, and to advise patients and clients about basic treatment strategies.

This course consists of eight modules: Students are required to complete all 8 before taking the post-test. Within modules, students will be asked to participate in various exercises and discussions. After completing the on-line portion of the elective, students are required to counsel 3 patients before receiving elective credit.
