Tobacco Assessment
We have begun to evaluate
tobacco education in two ways
a) via a survey of 2nd and 4th year medical students at the 12
universities
b) via a needs assessment of the current teaching of tobacco education
and __a plan for future teaching
Assessment tools
PACE assessment tools the National Medical Students Survey and Curriculum Assessment.
The National Medical Student survey was used with 2nd and 4th year students to assess medical students’ tobacco knowledge, patient counseling, education, skills and attitudes towards tobacco training.
The Curriculum Assessment survey collects information on current and proposed medical school tobacco teaching. The assessment tool reviews the amount of tobacco teaching content and type of evaluation used to measure effectiveness.
Results from assessment
Results of the Curriculum Assessment survey conducted by the 12 PACE schools are presented in a graphic format. Results include current tobacco teaching content and proposed tobacco teaching.
