Conference Program Assistant

As the conference program assistant, you will be a key member of Sargent Center’s Conference Services Department. Working with the conference program coordinator and assistant conference program coordinator, your primary role will be to facilitate year-round use of Sargent Center by college, adult, and youth groups.

As conference program assistant, you will undertake varied responsibilities year-round, including both administrative and support tasks such as:

  • Administrative duties, including customer service (inquiries, rate quotes, reservations, contracts, mailings, correspondence, and meal and lodging assignments)
  • Pre-arrival facility preparation for conference groups
  • Activity coordination with other Sargent Center departments
  • Weekend hosting and on-call duties

Additional responsibilities include a varied schedule of programming assistance, including:

  • Assisting on a high ropes course one or more times per week (paid high ropes and high element training is provided)
  • Facilitating small group activities and initiatives.

The conference program assistant works 40 hours per week, Wednesdays – Sundays, from January – June and mid-August – November. (Summer opportunities are available with our Adventure Camp Program for July – mid-August)

Qualifications

Age: 21 years of age or older
Certifications: valid CPR and Basic First Aid certifications a must. Lifeguard certifications, WFA, or WFR a plus.
Skills: Familiarity with Word and Outlook helpful; FileMaker experience a plus. Good telephone manners, solid writing skills (correspondence and e-mail), and comfort in addressing large groups are important. Experience in facilitating adventure/ experiential team building required, preferably with college and/or adult participants. However, we will consider applicants who have worked exclusively with youth. Prior experience living and working in a community environment helpful. A college degree is preferred. Willingness to learn, flexibility, and a good sense of humor are desirable. 10-month minimum commitment. Sorry, no pets.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $300/week first year
  • Housing and meals (when dining room is serving)
  • Temporary Health Benefit premium co-payment
  • Two days off per week and one paid vacation/month accruing after two full months of work
  • Internet access
  • Use of on-site recreational facilities
