Adventure Counselor
Co-lead groups of 10-12 Adventure
Challenge or Adventure
Quest campers in group teambuilding and outdoor activities,
and assist specialists in high challenge program areas. Adventure
Counselors are responsible for camper health, safety and primary
care, and facilitating a positive community living experience.
This is a great opportunity to learn skills in low-impact camping,
high ropes courses, mountain biking, and rock climbing.
Certifications Required: First Aid (WFA
preferred) and CPR
Adventure Specialist
Lead adventure activities—such as mountain biking, rock
climbing, high ropes courses, etc.—for all campers. Adventure
Specialists teach and oversee all appropriate safety standards,
provide cabin supervision, and assist with program logistics. Training,
appropriate certification, and/or documented leadership experience
in all of these program areas is required. Preferred candidates
are 21 years or older with strong experience working with children
in specialty program areas.
Certifications Required: First Aid (WFA
preferred) and CPR, and appropriate program area certifications
Adventure Trek Leader
Co-lead Adventure
Trek groups in adventure activities, short backpacking trips,
and a wide variety of camp activities, including advanced wood
fire cooking, orienteering, and early American crafts. Trek Leaders
are responsible for facilitating positive community living experiences
in cabins and yurts. Candidates must have strong camping experience.
Certifications Required: WFA and CPR.
Lifeguard certification a plus.
Trip Leader
Co-lead 8-12 campers on 3- to 14-day trips through wilderness
areas of New England, New York, and Canada. Trips focus on mountain
biking, canoeing, sea kayaking, backpacking, and rock climbing.
Facilitate group teambuilding, trip preparation, and other group
activities; assist with program logistics; and supervise cabins.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have strong experience
leading wilderness trips.
Certifications Required: WFA (WFR strongly
preferred), CPR, Lifeguard, Kayak Instructor, and other appropriate
certifications.
Waterfront Specialist
Assist in developing and leading adventure based waterfront activities.
Guard for free swims, boating, and special events. Responsible
for maintaining safety standards, cabin supervision, and working
with counselors and their groups. Assist with camp logistics when
not on the waterfront. Candidates with strong kayaking and canoeing
experience preferred.
Certifications Required: First Aid,
CPR, Lifeguard
Counselor-in-Training Director
Design and implement the Counselor-in-Training
(CIT) program for 17 year olds. Must be able to train
young people in areas of leadership, communication, program development,
activity skills, trip leadership, working with children, etc.
Responsible for planning recreational program activities for
CIT’s and assisting with other camp program logistics.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, and should have
strong experience in summer camping and training; trip leading
experience preferred.
