SOLO Wilderness First Aid
and Wilderness First Responder Recertification
June 7 & 8, 2008 
Boston University’s Sargent Center for Outdoor Education welcomes outdoor enthusiasts, trip leaders, rescue personnel, and camp counselors for two days of first aid and first responder recertification training in the beautiful Monadnock region of New Hampshire.
Sargent Center, set on a pristine 700-acre campus, offers year-round outdoor and adventure education experiences to middle school, high school, college, and adult groups.
The following training and recertification program will be offered June 7-8, 2008:
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and WFA Recertification
9 a.m. Saturday – 6 p.m. Sunday
Instructors from Stonehearth Outdoor Learning Opportunities (SOLO) will lead this intensive two-day course which introduces students to wilderness first aid and long-term patient care. The American Camp Association recognizes this course as meeting their first aid requirements for camp staff. The course is recommended for trip leaders, camp counselors, guides, rescue personnel, and outdoors enthusiasts. It is also appropriate for new students as well as those wishing to recertify.
Costs:
Residential Students (includes SOLO course fee, meals, snacks, and yurt lodging) - $220
Day Students (includes SOLO course fee, plus snacks and lunch on Saturday and Sunday) - $165

Wilderness First Responder Recertification (WFR)
The WFA course described above may also be used to recertify your current WFR. Please note this is not the WFR – Review Course; in our program the instruction, practical skills and simulations will be at the WFA level. The WFR recertification option is open only to individuals holding a valid Wilderness First Responder card. Please contact SOLO to confirm you qualify to take the WFA course as recertification.

Residential Students (includes SOLO course fee, meals, snacks, and yurt lodging) - $230
Day Students (includes SOLO course fee, plus snacks and lunch on Saturday and Sunday) - $175

CPR
7 p.m. Saturday (end time varies by the number of students enrolled in this course)
This is an optional course for those interested in receiving American Heart Association Adult CPR Certification. This certification is valid for two years.

Meals and Lodging
Buffet style meals feature vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices; special dietary needs can often be accommodated with advance notice. Residential guests stay in three-season, unheated yurts with frame beds. Yurts are adjacent to a bathhouse with hot water, electricity, showers, and washrooms, and are conveniently located near the classroom.
Space is limited and fills on a first come, first served basis.
Deposit and Refund Policy
To reserve space, complete a registration form and submit it with a 50% deposit. Deposit is non-refundable unless we are able to fill your space with another participant. If we are able to find another to fill your space, we will refund your deposit less a $35 service charge. In the event of course cancellation, your deposit will be fully refunded.
