Adventure Camp Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Adventure Camp
located?
We’re in Hancock, NH, in the southwestern part of the state.
Part of Boston University, our site features 700 acres, 22 miles of trails,
and a 60-acre
undeveloped pond with a sandy beach. We are about a two-hour drive from Boston.
Do you offer programs
of different lengths?
Yes — 6-, 13-, and 20-day sessions for boys and girls, ages 10-17. Our
CIT program is 26 days.
My child wants to stay
in a cabin each night. Is there a program for my camper?
Yes, the 6-day Adventure Challenge. Campers stay in cabins. All other campers
stay in cabins or our yurt villages based on gender enrollment.
What will my child do
in camp?
Depending on which program is selected (see descriptions), campers enjoy lots
of activities including two high ropes courses, the Flying Squirrel, an outdoor
climbing tower, teambuilding activities, mountain biking, cooking over a campfire,
boating, swimming, archery, arts and crafts, woodcrafting, sports, hiking,
and making friends.

What’s the difference
between Adventure Quest and Adventure Trek?
While both programs are based in camp with campers participating in our most
popular adventure activities, Adventure Trek campers enjoy an on-site two-night
introductory backpack trip.
What are my child’s
choices among off-site trips?
There are many! 13- and 20-day sessions include backpacking, sea kayaking,
rock climbing, canoeing in the Adirondacks and Ontario, Canada, mountain biking
trips in New England, and sea kayaking off the Maine coast.
Is my child required
to take swimming lessons?
No. Our waterfront program focuses on activities including working together
to make canoe rafts, kayaking, and a water carnival. There is also lots of
time for free swimming.
Does my child
need waterproof boots?
We recommend them if you have them. If not, it’s a good idea to send
along multiple pairs of footwear so your child has something dry to put on
his or her feet.
How does
my child bunk with a buddy?
- The
two campers must be about the same
age.
- They
must register for the same program.
- Both families must make the request
on their camper’s registration
form.
Tip: Mailing
both registration forms together in
the same envelope guarantees the campers
will be cabin buddies. We will do our
best to honor requests that are sent
to us separately. Unfortunately, multiple
buddy requests cannot be honored.
Do you have a nurse on-site?
Our first commitment is to the well-being of each camper. We have a full-time
nursing staff on site, supported by an on-call physician and emergency medical
facility.

What is the staff-to-camper
ratio?
It’s 1-to-4.
What about special meals?
My child has food allergies.
Our kitchen staff is happy to work with parents of campers having dietary restrictions.
Please contact our nurse for more information (603-525-3311).
What about camp scholarships?
Campership awards are need-based and granted on a first-come, first-served
basis. A limited number of partial scholarships are available; call 603-525-3311
to request a scholarship application. You must send in your camper’s
registration form along with the $150 deposit. Your entire deposit is refunded
if our financial aid does not meet your needs.
My child wants to attend
more than one session; how do I register?
You must complete a separate registration
form for each session.
