20-Day Sessions

Native Waters Canoe

Native Waters Canoe

Ages 14-17 | Ontario, Canada:
Challenge yourself on this amazing trip through one of the most famous wilderness canoe areas in North America: the waterways of Canada’s Algonquin Provincial Park. Enjoy the solitude of quiet water and the excitement of Class I and II rapids as you paddle and portage through the heart of the Canadian wilderness. View brilliant sunsets and cascading waterfalls; hear the song of loons echoing off rocky shores; and listen to the call of timber wolves as you follow the ancient routes of Native Americans and voyagers on this unforgettable 14-day journey. If you love to canoe, this trip is for you. Take part in group teambuilding and pack for your trip at Sargent Center before heading to Canada. Campers must be strong canoers and hikers and be comfortable participating in a physically demanding trip. Campers must have previous multi-day canoe trip experience, be able to paddle a significant portion of each day, pass a swim test, be comfortable carrying a canoe pack (similar to a backpack), and be willing to learn how to portage a canoe.

Leaders-in-Training

Counselors-in-TrainingAges 15-16 | On-site:
Join us for a new three-week leader training session designed for campers who would like to be Counselors-in-Training the following summer. Through workshops and hands-on training, you will learn leadership skills, group management, how to facilitate adventure teambuilding, and much more. You will receive in-depth training on high ropes, climbing tower, mountain biking, cookouts, and trip planning. LITs will plan and lead their own three-day, two- night trip, including food/gear prep and route planning. LITs will take on leadership roles during all camp activities and special events. Your schedule includes time to practice your skills with campers under staff supervision, as well as time to relax with other LITs. Start the process of becoming a positive role model for younger campers by enhancing your own leadership skills. In order to provide a strong program, we accept only a limited number of LITs. Potential LITs must complete an application form, provide three references, and have an interview. Applications are due by March 7, 2008. If accepted, LITs must then fill out a registration form and submit payment. LITs who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to apply for the Counselors-in-Training program for the summer of 2009. Questions? Please contact us or call 603-525-3311.
