20-Day Sessions
Leader-in-Training
Ages
15-16 | On-site:
Join us for a three-week leader training session designed for campers who aspire to be
Counselors-In-Training the following summer, or who want to develop their leadership
abilities. Through workshops and hands-on training, you will learn leadership skills,
group management, how to facilitate adventure teambuilding, and much more. You
will experience high ropes, the climbing tower, on-site mountain biking, cookouts, and
trip planning the Adventure Camp way. Leaders-in-Training (LITs) will plan and lead
their own three-day, two-night trip, including food/gear prep and route planning. Start
the process of becoming a positive role model for younger campers by taking on
leadership roles during all camp activities and special events. Your schedule includes
time to practice your skills with campers under staff supervision, as well as time to
relax with other LITs. In order to insure individual development, we accept only a
limited number. Potential LITs must complete an application (available at
bu.edu/outdoor/adventure), provide one reference, and come in for an interview.
Applications are due by March 6, 2009. If accepted, LITs must then fill out a
registration form and submit payment. LITs who successfully complete the program
have the opportunity to apply for the Counselor-in-Training program for the summer
of 2010. Questions? Please call 603-525-3311.
