Ages

Challenge yourself for 13 adventure-filled days! Climb on two high ropes
courses and a climbing tower. Zoom 30’ into the air on the Flying Squirrel.
Explore our forest and pond by mountain bike, map and compass, canoe,
and kayak. Master the basics of cooking over a fire and compete in the
Iron Chef cooking challenge. Hike to the summit of a beautiful nearby
mountain. Boating, archery, arts and crafts, sports, woodcraft, and activities
planned by you and your group round out 13 days of excellent adventures.

Adventure Trek
Ages 10-14 | On-site:
Looking for on-site adventures? Adventure Trek is for you! Enjoy the best
of Adventure Camp’s on-site high challenge activities and the magic of
a backcountry trip. Face exciting adventures such as mountain biking,
two high ropes courses, the Flying Squirrel, the rock-climbing tower,
and waterfront activities. Create feasts over an open fire and compete
in the Iron Chef cooking challenge. Try your hand at archery, woodcraft,
and boating. Switch gears and plan your three-day introductory backpacking
trip, which is sure to be a highlight of your experience. Menu planning,
gear preparation, and a team climb on the high Dangle Quad get you ready
for a memorable three-day trip on Sargent Center’s trails to our favorite
campsites.

Pioneer Outpost
Ages
12-15 | On-site:
Would you love to camp out, cook over open fires, and explore the woods
with map, compass, and GPS? Would you like to learn how to start a fire
without a match, and build furniture for your campsite using only natural
materials? If so, join us for our newest program that is different from
the rest! To start, you’ll establish your campsite in a special part of
Sargent Center’s 700 acres of land, then you and your group will be challenged
by planning and cooking two delicious meals out each day, participating
in unique teambuilding activities, and creating your daily schedule of
outdoor adventures! This relaxed yet exciting program allows for plenty
of time for making new friends and experiencing Adventure Camp in a whole
new way!

Sargent's Challenge
Ages 15-16 | On-site:
Continue the excellent work of Dr. Dudley Sargent in this new program
for older teens. In 1912, Dr. Sargent built Sargent Center and other outdoor
facilities to support people being active, having fun, and learning in
the out-of-doors. His successful efforts almost 100 years ago are still
enjoyed by us today! Your challenge will begin with building group teamwork
skills through adventure activities and high ropes. Then test those skills
by working on two service projects at camp and beyond. In camp, you’ll
work with our staff to build a new community structure, such as a pavilion,
or an adventure activity. Then travel off-site for three days and be part
of a trail maintenance crew. This summer, carry on the tradition of building
and creating something that will benefit the world around you for years
to come.

Granite State Mountain
Bike
Ages
12-14 | New Hampshire:
Master your trail riding skills on this trip for new mountain bikers who
have some experience, want to become better riders, and take on the challenge
of a trip. Review off-road riding techniques on Sargent Center’s extensive
trail network, take part in group teambuilding, learn camping skills,
and pack your food and gear. Head to some of New Hampshire’s best mountain
biking trails for five to seven days of exploring challenging new trails
from base camps. Campers must be comfortable riding off-road and using
their bike’s gears. Campers must bring their own mountain bikes and helmets.
Our camp staff strongly recommends bikes with 21 gears and a suspension
or shock system. Please consult with your bike mechanic about the best
size and type of bike for your camper and this program.

Canoe Trek
Ages 11-14 | Upper Connecticut River:
Paddle the beautiful upper Connecticut River on this introductory canoe
trip. Learn canoeing strokes, water safety, and camping skills at Sargent
Center. Adventure teambuilding, menu planning, equipment packing, two
high challenge activities, and an overnight stay on a local lake round
out the preparation for your four-day, three-night paddling trip. Canoeists
must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 yards, and tread water
for five minutes before the trip.

Pack and Paddle 1
Ages
12-14 | New Hampshire:
Excited about canoeing, backpacking, and in-camp adventures? Then this
is the program for you! At camp, you’ll develop your canoeing and backpacking
skills, participate in meal planning and gear packing, and build your
team with adventure activities. Then paddle a scenic New Hampshire waterway
for your first three-day trip. Upon your return to camp, challenge yourself
on a high ropes course and have fun in camp before taking off on your
second three-day trip: backpacking on the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway Trail.
Wilderness camping, teamwork, outdoor cooking, and making new friends
will complete this combination adventure!

New England Mountain Bike
Ages
13-15 | New England:
Have you done some great riding and want to take your trail riding experience
to a new level? Then this trip is for you! At Sargent Center, learn more
advanced biking techniques and prepare for your trip. Test your skills
on outstanding New England mountain bike trails for six to eight days.
Set up base camp at two or three different sites, ride all day, cook dinner,
then relax and share trail stories with your friends around a campfire.
Campers should have solid mountain biking experience, and must bring their
own bikes and helmets. Our staff strongly recommends bikes with 21 gears
and a suspension or shock system. Please consult with your bike mechanic
about the best size and type of bike for your camper and this program.

Vermont Mountain Bike
Ages 14-16 | Northern Vermont:
Gear up for this program designed for advanced mountain bike trail riders
only! Sharpen your riding skills, learn bike maintenance, plan menus,
and prepare your trip equipment before leaving for an eight-day bike trip
to some of Vermont’s most exciting, challenging bike trails. Stay at two
or three different base camps and tackle new trails every day. Try a downhill
ride and learn the ins and outs of mountain bike trail development. Campers
must have strong mountain biking experience and be comfortable riding
for a significant portion of each day on trails comparable to rough hiking
trails in hilly areas. Campers must bring their own mountain bikes and
helmets. Our staff strongly recommends bikes with 21 gears and a suspension
or shock system. Please consult with your bike mechanic about the best
size and type of bike for your camper and this program.

Wilderness Canoe
Ages
13-16 | New York’s Adirondack Waterways:
Set your sights on an extraordinary wilderness experience—paddling and
portaging on beautiful Adirondack waterways. On your eight-day trip, paddle
a variety of lakes and rivers where moose, osprey, and otters are commonly
sighted. By portaging your gear and canoes between waterways, you’ll explore
Adirondack Park in a whole new way. Set up camp, cook dinner, and enjoy
an evening of stargazing around a campfire while talking about the day’s
experiences. Be part of adventure teambuilding, canoe skills training,
and trip planning before leaving Sargent Center. Campers should have previous
canoeing experience and be able to paddle a significant portion of each
day. Before the trip, all canoeists must demonstrate comfort in deep water,
swim 100 yards, and tread water for five minutes. Campers should be comfortable
carrying a canoe pack (similar to a backpack), and be willing to learn
how to portage a canoe.

Pack and Paddle 2
Ages
13-15 | Maine:
Challenge yourself on this eight-day trip that combines the excitement
of wilderness canoeing and the beauty of mountain summits. Prepare for
your trip at Sargent Center by planning your meals, honing your trip skills,
and participating in adventure teambuilding. You and your group will head
out to Maine’s Flagstaff Lake for your paddling adventure, then pick up
your backpacks, switch gears, and head into the nearby Bigelow Mountain
range for a few days of excellent backpacking. Have fun, learn tricks
of living and cooking in the wilderness, make new friends, hike, canoe,
and challenge yourself! Before the trip, campers must demonstrate comfort
in deep water, swim 100 yards, and tread water for five minutes.

Coastal Maine Adventure
Ages
14-16 | Maine Coast:
Explore the wild and beautiful Maine coast for eight days from your base
camp near Acadia National Park. Hike mountain trails, rock climb for two
days at spectacular Otter Cliffs, and sea kayak among the coastal islands
on a two-night, three-day trip. Cooking dinner and relaxing around the
campfire fill the evenings of this amazing adventure. Work on adventure
teambuilding and trip preparation with your group at Sargent Center before
your trip.

Maine Kayak Touring
Ages 14-16 | Maine:
Continue your kayak adventures this summer with an eight-day trip exploring
a spectacular wilderness lake in Maine. With your group, prepare for your
trip at Sargent Center by developing your kayaking skills, participating
in exciting group teambuilding activities, and packing your food and gear.
Then you’re off for a great adventure filled with challenging paddling,
wilderness camping, and good times with friends! Campers should be very
comfortable in the water, have some kayaking experience, and be able to
paddle a significant portion of each day. Before the trip, all kayakers
must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 yards, tread water for
five minutes, and demonstrate self-rescue skills.

New Hampshire Rocks
Ages
14-16 | White Mountains, New Hampshire:
Challenge yourself on the cliffs and crags of some of the most exciting
rock faces in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Cap off your trip by hiking
to the rocky summits of some of the most spectacular peaks in the Presidential
Range. After each day’s climb or hike, head back to your base camp in
the White Mountain National Forest to cook dinner, enjoy a campfire, and
talk about your day. Sharpen your rock climbing skills, take part in
adventure teambuilding, and pack your food and gear at Sargent Center
before departing for your eight-day trip. Campers should have previous
rock climbing experience.

Squam Lake Kayak Touring
Ages 13-15 | Squam Lake, New Hampshire:
Get into one of the fastest growing sports—kayaking! Learn sea kayaking
basics like paddling, safety skills, packing a kayak, and lots more. Sargent
Center’s Halfmoon Pond and nearby waterways will be your training ground.
Prepare your menus, pack your gear, and take off for the beautiful Squam
Lake region for four to six days of exploring hidden coves and islands
by kayak. Camp each night at a new campsite, enjoying campfires with friends.
Campers should be very comfortable in the water, have some canoeing or
kayaking experience, and be able to paddle a significant portion of each
day. Before the trip, all kayakers must demonstrate comfort in deep water,
swim 100 yards, tread water for five minutes, and demonstrate self-rescue
skills.

Legacy Expedition
Ages 14-17 | Appalachian Trail:
This summer, make history—be a backpacker on the Legacy Expedition! The
solitude of the trail. Spectacular scenery. Camaraderie. The thrill of
achievement. The chance to be part of something that will continue for
many years with many backpackers. Each year, Legacy Expedition hikers
backpack a section of the Appalachian Trail, ultimately completing the
entire trail in the northeastern United States. You and your fellow expedition
members will prepare for your adventure at Sargent Center, then head out
for an amazing eight- to ten-day journey. Campers must have solid backpacking
experience and be able to hike a significant portion of each day while
carrying a full backpack, weighing roughly 1/4 of their body weight.

Coastal Kayaking
Ages 15-17 | Maine:
Love to paddle? Want to smell the salt air and feel the movement of waves
under your boat? Want to explore the spectacular coast of Maine by water?
This is the trip for you! Start at Sargent Center, developing strong paddling
and self-rescue skills, perfecting techniques for packing a kayak, and
learning about ocean travel. Plan menus with your group, pack your gear,
and head out on your amazing eight- to ten-day coastal kayak adventure!
Campers must have strong canoeing or kayaking skills. Before the trip,
all kayakers must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 yards, tread
water for five minutes, and demonstrate self-rescue skills.
