Clifford J. Robinson, MBA, Ph.D. (Cantab) Dr. Robinson is responsible for business incubation activities at Boston University. He has more than twenty five years of senior level operational experience in technology commercialization and business development gained at four major fortune 500 companies and from working with numerous, early stage, venture capital funded companies. His experience spans the semiconductor, computer, defense, chemical engineering and photonics industries. His academic and business interests are in economic development through technology innovation, entrepreneurship and new company creation. He has consulted to the governments of France, Canada, U.K., private industry, venture capital and served the National Science Foundation to select universities for federal funding. He is an invited participant and advisor in the angel investment community and is a member of the Board of Directors of Barr Associates. Prior to his current role, Dr. Robinson was Assistant Director of the Photonics Center at Boston University with responsibilities for technology entrepreneurship, business incubation and corporate relations. He has incubated more than fifteen companies including FiberGrade, acquired by Agilent in 2006, and Solx, acquired by Occulogix in 2006. He began his career as a staff scientist at the research division of IBM where he conducted basic research and developed new technologies for magnetic and optical data storage. Later, he was recruited to the research division of Raytheon where he was a program manager and PI on numerous DoD funded contracts. He has published over forty peer reviewed papers in material science and has two patents. Dr. Robinson holds degrees in physics (Ph.D.) from Cambridge University and business (MBA) from Boston University. crobinso@bu.edu |
