Business Incubation Facilities

Turnkey Business Incubator Facilities for Life Science and Technology Start-Up Companies

Boston University has some of the finest on-campus business incubation facilities in the United States. Early stage companies gain access to:

  • Business Incubation Facilities Modern office space, fully furnished with telephone and internet connections
  • Fully permitted laboratories
  • A wide range of technical equipment and engineering resources to aid in rapid product development
  • Amenities include conference rooms, reception area, kitchen, security and custodial services

Business Incubation FacilitiesA turnkey, all-inclusive price structure includes cost of space, common areas, permits, taxes, utilities and overhead allowing companies to focus on core business execution.

Companies have access to University core facilities on a fee-for-service basis. These are listed at www.bu.edu/cores.  Within the Photonics Center these include:

  • Optoelectronics Processing Facility (device fabrication)
  • Electron Microscopy and Measurements Laboratory

Incubator companies entering the program have access to additional university services such as:

  • Scientific Instruments Facility (Machine Shop)
  • Electronics Design Facility
  • Office of Clinical Research (to assist in clinical trials)
  • Conferences and Catering Services
  • Office of Environmental Health and Safety (handling and disposal of hazardous waste)

Companies entering the program are encouraged to engage with faculty and students to enhance the entrepreneurial culture within the university. Companies may hire student interns, collaborate with faculty or participate in funded university programs. Other interactions may involve incubator companies participating as real-world case studies for student education in entrepreneurial management.

Boston University Business Incubator
Located on the Boston University Charles River Campus in the Photonics Center, the business incubator offers 22,000 sq. ft. of office suites, conference rooms, meeting rooms and state-of-the-art laboratories. The incubator can house companies with anywhere from one to twenty employees  and offers amenities which include reception services, IT services, industrial permits, utilities, kitchen and healthcare benefits.

The BioSquare Discovery and Innovation Center (BDIC)
Located on the Boston University Medical Campus in the heart of Boston’s academic and medical community, BDIC offers state-of-the-art biomedical laboratory facilities, access to outstanding biomedical research support services including animal and transgenic facilities and access to equipment such as NMR Spectroscopy Core, Mass Spectrometry and a Macromolecular X-Ray facility, for example. Flexible short term office and lab space arrangements are available from 6 months to two years.
