For Researchers

The Office of Technology Development’s mission is to help the Boston University community realize the commercialize potential of their ideas. We accomplish this by working with you to develop a strategy for commercialization and then expanding your network by connection you with people that can help inform and implement that strategy (e.g., licensing to an existing company, forming a new venture, etc.)

Your interaction with us starts by submitting an idea – you can find the link and directions in the right sidebar. Once you complete this process, one of the case managers will contact you to begin determining the right course of action for you and your idea. This involves determining patentability, exploring the market for potential licensees, and examining the path of a new startup company.
