About TECC

History

TECC was founded in 2011 when consultants from the HCEP became affiliated with OTD and in doing so, merged with the student group IPConnectEd. The HCEP’s life science focus became Health-TECC and the group extended its practice into the physical sciences with the addition of the Clean-TECC practice.  TECC is now the exclusive student group affiliated with OTD.

About HCEP (now Health TECC)

The Healthcare Consulting and Entrepreneurship Program (HCEP), now known as Health TECC, was established at Boston University in 2006. HCEP’s mission is to initiate and support entrepreneurial business development in health care, focusing on the incubation and start-up phase. Market areas that HCEP focuses on include medical devices, biopharma, health services, and other types of health care technology.

HCEP members are an interdisciplinary group with MBA students, bioengineers, PhD students in life sciences, and medical students who have consulting experience with early-stage companies in the diagnostics, medical devices, and therapeutics spaces. In advising start-up companies, HCEP also draws on University experts and its broad network of outside advisors and contacts. Boston University’s initiatives devoted to entrepreneurial business development include the Office of Technology Development (venture capital and technology transfer), several business incubators (Photonics Center, BioSquare), the Fraunhofer USA Center, and the Entrepreneurial Management Institute (EMI) at the School of Management.

About IPconnectEd

IPconnectEd was founded in 2007 by Jonathan Jensen, a member of OTD, while he was a part-time MBA student. The group’s mission was to facilitate networking opportunities for those interested in an IP related career, and to create IP awareness through education. IPconnectEd was composed of business, science, engineering and law students who are interested in learning more about intellectual property (IP) and exploring careers related to IP management.
