OSP FO# 11-195
AGENCY: American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS)
OBJECTIVES: This program provides funding for tenure-track assistant professors and untenured associate professors in the humanities and related social sciences whose scholarly contributions have advanced their fields and who have well-designed and carefully developed plans for new research. The fellowships are intended to provide time and resources to enable these faculty members to conduct their research under optimal conditions. The ultimate goal of the project should be a major piece of scholarly work by the applicant.
Appropriate fields of specialization include but are not limited to: American studies; anthropology; archaeology; art and architectural history; classics; economics; film; geography; history; languages and literatures; legal studies; linguistics; musicology; philosophy; political science; psychology (excluding clinical or counseling psychology); religious studies; rhetoric, communication, and media studies; sociology; and theater, dance, and performance studies. Proposals in the social science fields listed above are eligible only if they employ predominantly humanistic approaches (e.g., economic history, law and literature, political philosophy). Proposals in interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary studies are welcome, as are proposals focused on any geographic region or on any cultural or linguistic group.
Please see the program announcement below for further program details.
ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS: Applicants must be tenure-track assistant professors or untenured associate professors who by September 28, 2011 will have successfully completed their institution’s last reappointment review before tenure review, and whose tenure review will not be complete before March 1, 2012.
DEADLINE: September 28, 2011, 9PM Eastern
