National Institutes of Health (NIH)

FYI: Advanced Notice of Change in Policy on the Submission of Letters of Reference for Kirschstein-NRSA Fellowship (F) and Career Development (K) Applications

The NIH has released a notice informing prospective applicants for the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellowships and Individual Career Development awards that the Letters of Reference are due by the application receipt deadline date. Prior to this policy change, there was a 5 business days grace period for the receipt of letters of reference after the application receipt due date. The new policy eliminates the grace period.

The change in policy is effective for Individual Fellowship (F) applications intended for April 8, 2011 and subsequent due dates, and for Individual Career Development Award (K) applications intended for June 12, 2011 and subsequent due dates.

Please see NOT-OD-11-036 (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-11-036.html) for additional information. For general inquiries concerning this policy, please contact the OSP Assistant Director assigned to your school or department at X3-4365 or contact the NIH Research Training Officer at: nihtrain@mail.nih.gov.
