Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to attend University Orientation?
Attendance for all new students is mandatory. University Orientation ensures that you are properly registered for classes.

Do I have an advantage if I attend an earlier session?
The College of General Studies reserves seats in every schedule for each Orientation session, so students who attend Session #7 have similar registration choices as those who attend Session #1.

How do I register for University Orientation?
Once you have paid your enrollment deposit, you will be eligible to register for University Orientation at www.bu.edu/orientation in late April.

Is there an Orientation Program for Parents?
The Parent Orientation program runs concurrently with University Orientation. We strongly encourage parents to attend. Approximately 3/4 of freshman parents attend Parent Orientation.

Is on-campus housing available during University Orientation?
Students are required to stay on campus Thursday night for their orientation session. Additional nights are available for Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Limited housing is available for parents participating in the program Tuesday through Saturday nights. This is a good opportunity for parents to experience campus life, however, parents may choose to stay in one of the many hotels in the area.
