Educational Resource Center: ERC
The Educational Resource Center helps Boston University students develop the range and depth of academic skills required by the University’s rigorous programs. The Center focus on promoting a disciplined approach to studying, fostering active and independent learning, developing an awareness and understanding of one’s own thought process, and advocating the strategic use of resources available throughout the University.
The ERC offers Peer Tutoring, Language Link conversation groups, Workshops, one of the Writing Centers on campus, and the Contingent Aid Program. The ERC professional staff is also available to meet with students individually to develop a personalized plan for academic success and/or to assist them in developing specific skills. These services are free and can benefit all students who are interested in improving their academic performance.
The ERC Writing Center is staffed by BU Doctoral Students who take their time working with students on writing elements such as organization, documentation and style. To schedule your first appointment with the Writing Center, visit the ERC at the Center for Student Services located at 100 Bay State Road.
Boston University Dual Degree Program (DDP)
This dual degree program differs from a double major. It is a dual-major between two schools or colleges at the University. This means that requirements for both schools or colleges need to be completed before degrees are awarded. DDP students must complete 144 credits and at least 36 courses to acquire both degrees.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program: UROP
UROP promotes participation by BU undergrads in faculty-mentored research university-wide. Students are actively encouraged to discover the excitement of doing research and to explore new ways of learning about the world. Hands-on training brings added depth to topics covered in the classroom and often proves the formative experience for undergraduates whoa re making decisions about their futures.
The Pre-Professional Advising Office provides an extensive advisory system for all students interested in law, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or other health-related fields.
