• Matriculation is the induction of all the freshmen into Boston University. It takes place in the Track and Tennis Center in West Campus on August 31, 2009 at 10:00 am.
• Splash occurs on Nickerson Field right after Matriculation on August 31. Here, you can explore the sea of clubs and groups on campus to begin your involvement.
• The Drive-in Movie on Nickerson Field is a must attend event. The Programming Council chooses two movies and shows them on a giant screen for free. Come join us on September 4 at 8:00 pm!
• Frank Santos, the R-Rated Hypnotist chooses students from the audience in the GSU Metcalf Hall and hypnotizes them to…well, you will see, if you stop in on September 12 from 11:00 pm to 1 am.
• The Fall Activities Expo features over 400 student organizations found on campus. There you can meet members of student groups, learn about the groups’ activities, and get involved. Check out the Expo on September 16 in the GSU Metcalf Ballroom between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
• The Mr. & Ms. BU Competition is a fun-filled competition in which the Mr. and Ms. for each individual school compete against each other for the title of Mr. and Ms. BU. See if Mr. and Ms. ENG can hold onto their title on October 24 at 6:30 pm in the Tsai Performance Center.
• The Greek BBQ, held the Saturday before formal Fall Recruitment begins, features the campus sororities and fraternities so students can learn about Greek Life.
• Parents’ Weekend takes place on October 16-18. This weekend specializes with events that build school spirit and pride, and include an all-night Rhett-decoration contest, sporting events, and an extravaganza that features student-performing groups.
• Head of the Charles occurs during Parents Weekend on October 17 and 18. This famous collegiate crew competition on the Charles River attracts spectators from all universities to enjoy the friendly competitive atmosphere.
• The Masquerade Ball is a costume ball that takes place around Halloween. It has some fairy-tale charm about it.
• Casino Night is a mock casino held by the School of Management to benefit a selected charity.
• Midnight Madness kicks off the Hockey season with the first practice starting at midnight. Everyone brings Terrier Pride for this fun pep rally.
• Hockey Games are a staple in the BU experience. The enthusiasm from the students, the fans, and the Terriers shows the strong School Spirit everyone possesses. • Elie Wiesel Lectures are a three lecture series given by the Nobel Laurite. Dr. Wiesel’s lectures never fail to captivate his audience with his quiet eloquence and unique perspective on issues.
• The South Campus Winter Lights, hosted by the South Campus RHA, is the lighting of Audubon Court in the beginning of December.
• Fraternity and Sorority Recruitment is the process by which fraternities and sororities recruit new members. Sororities hold recruitment in January, while fraternities hold it at the beginning of both semesters.
• The Beanpot is an annual hockey tournament between BU, BC, Harvard, and Northeastern at the TD Garden in February. You can watch the games projected on a 20-foot screen in the GSU Metcalf Hall, while you show your Terrier Pride.
• Back Bay Ball, the Programming Council’s signature event, is a formal dance of elegance for all colleges held at the Park Plaza Hotel in Downtown Boston in mid-February.
• The Boston Marathon takes place on Patriot’s Day, April 19, 2010. Part of the marathon runs through South Campus. You have the day off school, so head into South Campus and cheer on the runners.
