Vice President, Budget & Capital Planning
Derek Howe joined the Boston University administrative team in 1995 as Assistant to Executive Vice President and was appointed to Associate Vice President for Budget, Planning and Institutional Research in 2005. He was promoted into his current position in July 2011. Throughout his time at the University he has been a major contributor and important member of the senior financial team. Derek plays a key role in optimizing central day-to-day processes that have an effect on virtually every department.
As Vice President, Derek jointly reports to the Senior Vice President for Operations and the University Provost, guiding and supporting the University’s strategic and budget planning processes; advises on financial initiatives, cost analyses and financial forecasting; and oversees institutional research activities.
