Boston University’s School of Social Work (SSW) is committed to education that furthers social and economic justice, and incorporates these ideals into its programs and activities. The School is especially concerned with empowerment of all oppressed groups. The School of Social Work’s online Master of Social Work program is designed for professionals with work and/or family responsibilities. This part-time, online program in Clinical Social Work Practice offers two tracks toward completion of the MSW degree. The eligibility to pursue a specific track is dependent on previous human services experience.
The program can be completed in eight consecutive semesters. Students fulfill all requirements by taking courses online and completing the field internship(s) within, or near, their geographical location.

Applicants who have a minimum of two years of supervised human services experience may apply to be considered for the Human Service with Experience track (HSE). Other applicants are eligible to apply for the Standard Program track. All applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to be eligible to apply for either track. To better serve our students and communities, the online program is available only to students residing outside the route 495 corridor in Massachusetts.
