Todd Klipp joined the Office of the General Counsel in December 1983.  Since 1987, Mr. Klipp has been the University’s General Counsel, and he became a Vice President in May 1997.  He was named Secretary of the Board of Trustees in September 2005.  As Vice President and General Counsel, Mr. Klipp is the University’s chief legal officer and a member of the President’s senior leadership team.  He advises the University’s Board of Trustees, President, and senior administrators on a wide variety of legal matters involving the University.  He is also responsible for the supervision of all legal matters, including litigation, handled by OGC and outside counsel.  Mr. Klipp’s principal areas of practice at OGC are trustee matters and non-profit governance, charitable giving, trusts and estates, policy matters, employment, and general business matters.  As Secretary, he oversees the Office of the Trustees and serves as the custodian of all official University records and of the University seal.  He also is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Boston University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar on non-profit organizations.  Prior to joining OGC, Mr. Klipp was an associate at the law firms of Goodwin, Procter & Hoar in Boston and Mudge, Rose, Guthrie & Alexander in New York.  He earned his B.A. from Hamilton College in 1972 and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1976.
