(Boston) – Canton resident, Robert Oates, MD, FACS, co-director of the New England Male Reproductive Center at Boston Medical Center, and program director of the Boston University Urology Residency, was recently named one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.
The America’s Top Doctors guide, recognized by consumers seeking high- quality medical care, is a trusted and authoritative resource for identifying top doctors in the United States. The selected top doctors are nominated by hospital presidents; vice presidents of medical affairs; and chiefs of service in anesthesiology, obstetrics and gynecology, medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology and surgery; as well as randomly selected board-certified physicians.
Oates, who also is a professor of urology at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), received his medical degree from BUSM. He performed his residency in general surgery and urology at the former University Hospital (now Boston Medical Center), and was a fellow in male reproductive medicine and surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston.
Oates has more than a decade of experience in reproductive medicine and male infertility research, and has been named one of Castle and Connelly: America’s Top Doctors every year since 2000. His studies have involved the genetic basis of male reproductive dysfunction. Microsurgical reconstruction of the male’s sperm transport system (i.e.vasectomy reversal) is a particular specialty. Oates has published more than 100 articles and chapters on male reproductive medicine and surgery.
