(Boston) – Award-winning editor Arthur Jahnke, with 25 years’ experience in print and online journalism at such publications as Boston Magazine and CIO, has joined Boston University as assistant vice president of the Office of Marketing and Communications and executive editor of BU Today, the university’s new online news portal.
BU Today (www.bu.edu/today) news and information Web site is Boston University’s official newspaper of record. Jahnke succeeds David Craig, who directed the site’s launch in the fall of 2005 and has joined the staff of the Columbia University alumni magazine.
“As a respected writer, teacher, speaker, and leader, Art will be a great asset to Boston University,” said Steve Burgay, Office of Marketing and Communications vice president. “His knowledge and experience as an editor for both print and online publications will ensure that BU Today remains an innovative resource for the BU community.”
Jahnke was executive editor and editor for special projects and new media at Boston Magazine and was senior editor of CIO magazine and Web editorial director of CXO Media Inc., where he oversaw CIO.com, CSOonline, and CMOmagazine.com. The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) gave Jahnke its gold award for Best New Web Publication for two websites that he launched and directed.
A University of Connecticut undergraduate with a bachelor’s degree in English literature, Jahnke earned a master’s in journalism at BU. He has been an instructor at Harvard University and Emerson College and has written for numerous publications, including Esquire, Newsweek and the Boston Globe.
Boston University, with an enrollment of more than 30,000 in its 17 schools and colleges, is the fourth-largest independent university in the United States.
