(Boston) —Bill Kling, president of American Public Media Group and president of its subsidiary, Minnesota Public Radio, will present “Strategies for Intelligent Radio in the Age of Blogs, Podcasts, and XM Radio,” at Boston University on Monday, November 21. The event is part of the Boston University College of Communication’s distinguished lecture series, Conversations.
In his roles at American Public Media and Minnesota Public Radio, Kling oversees three regional networks of 38 public radio stations and two national program production centers. In 2004, under Kling’s auspices, Minnesota Public Radio introduced its national production and distribution arm, American Public Media. In addition to producing award-winning documentaries, the company is also the producer of more national programming than any other station-based public radio organization in the country.
Kling was a founding director and incorporator of National Public Radio and the founding chair and president of Public Radio International, an organization that focuses on providing coverage of global events. In 2004, he was inducted into the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting’s Hall of Fame.
His next venture with American Public Media Group, the launch of Gather Inc., will provide community and commerce services to the public radio audience. It will directly support Minnesota Public Radio in an effort to maintain and enhance the organization’s ability to provide radio programming that reflects the culture, events, issues, and ideas of Minnesota and its people.
